The Benefits of Butcher Block Kitchen Islands
If you are someone who loves to cook, you should look into butcher block kitchen islands or kitchen work tables. As all great chefs know, to prepare a fresh meal you must have as much control over your ingredients as possible. If you grow your own vegetables in your backyard and go to a butcher for the freshest cuts of meat, you are on the right track. This style of shopping can produce the most delicious results, but it also requires quite a bit of work. You have to go out to the garden to pick your produce daily and get to the butcher shop before the best cuts of meat are already gone. While most people may opt to pay more for pre-cut vegetables or meat from the supermarket, you lose some of the taste. In order to do the chopping yourself, however, you need a proper work station. Embrace your inner chef and purchase a butcher block for your kitchen.
A butcher block consists of several thick hardwood strips glued tightly together. These butcher blocks can be various sizes but are generally smaller than kitchen islands that have stainless steel or marble tops. They are designed with an end grain configuration, meaning that they are very easy on your knives and are resistant to gouges. Therefore, it not only helps keep your knives sharp, but also allows your butcher block to stay in great shape even after several years. The non-toxic oil finish on the surface of the wood block is great for food preparation. These blocks are easy to clean and disinfect when you are done using them for the night.
Butcher block kitchen islands also fit in with any kitchen décor.
